Mike & Sandi Penfound

Sandi has been interested in art since she could hold a crayon. She has a background in painting and a strong interest in fiber arts. She has a line of contemporary clothing embellished with celtic knotwork. Sandi completed the Botanical Illustration Program at the Denver Botanical Garden in 2005. She works as a framer at Michaels. Mike’s initial interest in art started with woodworking for craft shows, eventually working in a shop making high end custom furniture which included veneering, inlay and carving. He enjoys drawing with pen and ink and colored pencil and tries to bring illustrative qualities into his glass art. Mike also has some background in puppetry. He has worked as a machinist for most of the last 30 years. Mike and Sandi started learning stained glass in 1993 and started Woodland Glass Arts Studio in 1995. They have a wide range of abilities in glass art including stained glass, sandblasting, fusing, casting, torchwork and offhand glassblowing. Their studio is equipped for all of these types of glasswork plus a complete woodworking shop and a neon light work station is almost finished. They have focused on celtic art the last 11 years, but they are developing a new line of work combining glass techniques with mixed media for galleries.
