Bill Vanaman

Bill Vanaman is a wood artist known for his ability to create in wood objects and vehicles by just looking at a picture. When this World War II veteran retired after years of hard work, his wife said he should find something else to do and he took his love of woodworking to new heights. He has been known to take a tour through what appears to others as a pile of rotting wood beams laying abandoned in a field and determining not only that it was a 19th century water well driller, but how it actually worked and created a working model of that driller in wood. Bill is a self-taught artist that has had his art displayed in numerous venues both nationally and internationally. His amazing wooden treasures can be found in the Antique Truck Museum in Calgary, Canada and private collections around the world. His work has been featured at the World Toy Show in Nuremberg, Germany and has won blue ribbons at the Colorado State Fair. He works in his home studio that has grown over the years to encompass the entire lower level of the house. His work is characterized by his incredible attention to detail and his ability to bring the best out of the wood he works with every day.
